UMCGD Volunteer Opportunity - Forgotten Harvest Farms

Forgotten Harvest Farms
9153 Major Road
Fenton, MI 48430

Join the UM Club of Greater Detroit's Community Service Committee as we volunteer for a very cool community service event.

Get your work clothes on and get ready for a day at the farm! Forgotten Harvest Farms is more than 95 acres of land on which they grow and harvest over 850,000 pounds of fresh, healthy produce during the year. Forgotten Harvest is committed to being certain that metro Detroit families in need will have the benefit of fresh, healthy food in their diets and on their tables. We need your help with a variety of farm tasks from planting vegetables to building picnic tables and everything else in between.

The volunteer activity will take place on Saturday May 5th from 9:00am -1:00pm at the Forgotten Harvest Farms - 9153 Major Rd. Fenton, MI 48430. Please plan to arrive about 8:45 so that we can receive our instructions and be ready to go. Dress in appropriate outdoor clothing and wear layers, as you never know what kind of weather the Michigan spring can bring. Children 15 and older can participate in the activity.

As with all of our volunteer events, please only sign up if you know that you and the others in your group can commit to the date. We have many members that like to participate in the community service activities but we are usually limited in the amount of members that can join any one activity. We will start a waitlist once we reach our maximum participant number of 35, however please be courteous and don't sign up if you aren't 100% confident in your current calendar. We understand things do happen at the last minute but we always try to mitigate the last minute cancellations that could have been prevented in the first place.
