Kellen Gandee
Bedford High School
Chris Rossi Scholarship
2026/2027
Kellen Gandee will be attending the University of Michigan College of Engineering in the fall of 2026, with plans to major in Materials Science and Engineering. Kellen is graduating at the top of his class at Bedford Senior High School after maintaining a perfect GPA, taking all 10 AP courses offered at the school, and achieving an SAT superscore of 1550.
His biggest commitment outside of school is his leadership on Bedford’s FIRST Robotics Competition team, through which he spends hundreds of hours every year designing mechanical subsystems and coordinating strategic plans for events. Being an integral part of the team’s collective efforts, Kellen has aided them in winning a district event, being awarded the Industrial Design Award at the State Championship, and becoming divisional finalists at the World Championship in Houston.
He has also served as Class President and Executive Secretary of Bedford High School’s Student Council, Secretary of his community’s Youth Advisory Council, and a member of Youth Leadership Toledo. In his spare time, Kellen finds enjoyment in producing electronic music, exploring 3D modeling and printing softwares, and studying philosophical worldviews.
As he approaches his first year at the University of Michigan, he intends to join the M-Engin Academy, take part in one of Michigan’s renowned student project teams, pursue undergraduate research, and build a resume to prepare himself for graduate school. Having received this gracious scholarship offering, he hopes to take advantage of Michigan’s vast resources and enriching social environment to become the best version of himself.
