Grace Bae

Northville High School
David J. Hallissey Memorial Scholarship
2026/2027
Grace Bae will attend the University of Michigan studying Business Administration at the Ross School of Business. Throughout high school she has kept a rigorous course schedule with 12 AP and Dual Enrollment courses while maintaining straight As. 
Immersed in many clubs at school Grace is the vice president of communications for her high school DECA chapter. Through DECA she has won multiple awards including being an International Career Development Conference qualifier two times. She also has been publicist for her high school Rotary Interact Club promoting volunteering within students. With her strong passion for volunteering, She has won the Presidential Volunteer Service Award 2 times. Also, Grace is the captain of the Varsity Golf team and has been on the states team with two back to back State Championship wins. With a strong passion for music, she is also the founder and president of the Korean Youth Orchestra of Michigan and the president of the Northville High School Symphony Orchestra. Grace has also participated in Taekwondo with a certified Black belt, in pageants winning runner up for Miss Oakland County Teen, and etc. 
In her free time she enjoys skiing, reading, and golfing with friends and family. She is so thankful for this scholarship and cannot wait to get on campus in the fall at Michigan!

Rebecca Berry

Salem High School
Roger and Elaine Zatkoff Scholarship
2026/2027

Rebecca Berry will attend the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, where she plans to pursue a degree in biology. With rigorous course load and 12 AP and Dual Enrollment courses, she earned straight As throughout high school. 

She is the founder of the Peace of Mind Book Club, a literacy and mental wellness initiative that has reached nearly 390 students who read and responded to over over 5,700 books featuring diverse characters who grappled with and overcame hardship.  She also launched the Fostering Kindness Drive, which collected over $30,000 worth of books and clothing for youth in foster care. In addition, Rebecca served as Co-president of Spanish Club and Vice President of Warriors of a Healthy Mind, where she advocates for mental health awareness and stigma reduction in her school community.

Beyond her volunteerism and leadership roles, Rebecca is an athlete and dedicated teammate in varsity soccer and field hockey, and she co-founded the P-CEP Pickleball club with her friends. Additionally, she conducted an independent research project exploring how diverse narratives influence emotional intelligence and empathy. She is also a baker and hobby watercolorist.

Rebecca is incredibly grateful to receive this scholarship and is excited to continue using science and service to make a meaningful impact on others. She looks forward to the opportunities ahead at the University of Michigan and the chance to grow as both a leader and a changemaker.

Lydia Binelli

Berkley High School
Larry Grajewski Scholarship
2026/2027
My name is Lydia Binelli, and I’m a senior at Berkley High School.  I am enrolled at Michigan's College of LSA to study Human Origins, Biology, and Behavior. At Berkley, I ran four seasons of varsity cross country, track & field, and three seasons of gymnastics. I have qualified for Regionals in 11 events across my three sports and served as captain of all three teams. I am participating in my third year of the National Honor Society and my fourth of the Science National Honor Society, and as president of the latter this school year. Outside of school, I created the Bravery Bears project to serve children in post-anesthesia care units and have over 200 hours of service. This past summer, I worked on a research paper published in the Journal of Thoracic Disease. 

Eduado Brandao

Saline High School

2026/2027

Eduardo Brandao will attend the University of Michigan College of Engineering. He has been a dedicated student, taking 10 AP classes and dual-enrollment courses while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. A part of the Science Olympiad team, he won first place at states in Chemistry Lab and later served as a captain in his senior year. He also founded Saline’s Chemistry Club, which fosters community interest in chemistry by conducting household experiments for elementary classes and high school peers. His passion for chemistry led him to take the American Chemical Society U.S. Chemistry Olympiad Exam, becoming a national exam nominee for two consecutive years. 


Eduardo has also been dedicated to serving his community. In his role as the NHS secretary, he helped organize events such as the SASS food drive, which raises thousands of pounds of food each year, and one of the largest blood drives in the area. Additionally, he led protocol training to combat offensive speech as a member of Students Against Racism, and organized cultural showcases and potlucks as president of the Culture Appreciation Club. Over the past summer, he volunteered at Camp Invention as a Leadership Intern. There, he provided instruction and guided a group of first graders in completing activities that taught them various engineering principles and encouraged creativity. 


Outside of school, Eduardo enjoyed playing soccer on both the high school and club teams. He also worked at an Ann Arbor fan-favorite, No Thai, during his junior and senior years, starting as a cashier and later becoming a cook. Eduardo is excited to begin his studies at the University of Michigan and to continue giving back to his community.

Theodore Campbell

Gabriel Richard - Riverview

2026/2027

Theodore Campbell will be attending the University of Michigan College of Engineering to pursue a major in biomedical engineering. He is a proud student and Valedictorian of Gabriel Richard Catholic High School in Riverview. Over his high school journey, he has taken 9 AP classes and multiple honors classes while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. He is a founding member and captain of his high school's growing robotics team, which qualified for the state competition in its first year. Over the past 4 years in this club, he has taken it upon himself to grow proficient in many areas of engineering and machining, teaching what he has learned to his teammates and future members. In addition to robotics, Theodore has participated in varsity soccer, wrestling, cross country, and track and field. He was nominated by the CHSL as an All-Catholic soccer athlete and an All-Academic cross country athlete. He was a state finalist with his 4x800m relay team, won the team state championship in track, and has helped the cross country team qualify for states the last 2 years. Besides sports, Theodore has participated in a Polish dancing group and has become quite proficient with the guitar. He has been an active voice in his school's recruitment and management through his secretary position in the student government and presence as a student ambassador. Theodore has been actively involved in the NHS, Key Club, and other forms of service and outreach in his community. He is a member of his high school campus ministry and volunteers in his parish weekly at church services. He enjoys tutoring students during his free hour at school. During his free time, he loves to fix discarded or broken computers, bikes, and cars, and challenges himself to create robots and embark on engineering projects. Theodore is extremely grateful to receive this scholarship and is honored to have support in his college education. He greatly anticipates learning how to use engineering to improve people’s lives and health with technology.

Claire Christopherson

Jeanette Kitto Schumacher Scholarship
2026/2027
Claire will attend the University of Michigan's College of LSA, double majoring in Biology and Spanish, on a pre-med track. A senior at Southfield Christian High School, Claire has taken 11 AP/Dual Enrollment Courses and been recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction. She was the department scholar for Biology, English, and AP Chemistry. 
 
On top of her heavy course load, Claire participated in numerous extracurricular activities. She was the Vice President of her class for three years and earned a spot on both the Homecoming and Prom Committees. Additionally, she played Varsity Soccer for four years, Varsity Volleyball for three years, Varsity Basketball for two years, and rowed for the Detroit Boat Club for four years. A captain in all of her sports, she earned multiple Conference, District, and State titles and competed at Youth Rowing Nationals. Claire has played piano for 11 years, earning superior ratings from the National Federation of Music Clubs. She was a member of the stage crew for her school's Drama Department and spent a lot of time helping design set elements.
 
Throughout High School, Claire also held down two part time jobs. She worked as a cashier for Westborn market and was a lead florist for Lilacs and Laurel. With a heart for supporting her community, Claire logged hundreds of volunteer hours working at food outreach programs, educational summer camps, and supporting Spanish-speaking communities. In her free time, Claire enjoys backpacking, traveling, reading, and painting. She is extremely grateful for this scholarship and is excited to spend the next four years at the University of Michigan!

Isabella Coughlin

Isabella will attend the University of Michigan Ross School of Business to earn a degree in Business Administration. Throughout high school she took a total of 10 AP and 3 honors classes, maintaining straight As and earning the title of AP Scholar with Distinction.
 
Coming from a school-of-choice background, Isabella is an advocate for financial literacy and equitable opportunities for all. She collaborated with Eastern Michigan University's Bright Futures program, creating a financial literacy and entrepreneurship curriculum for children living in economically challenged school districts, impacting more than 20 students. Passionate about using business to make an impact, she founded Grow Different, a social impact marketing agency that helps nonprofits and mission-driven businesses spread their messages and grow sustainably. She interned at Macro Connect, a values-focused MSP, where she developed marketing material that highlighted their social mission and communicated value to under-resourced clients. She also frequently donated her time to Nu2U Again, a nonprofit thrift store providing employment opportunities to individuals with disabilities. 
 
In addition, Isabella held leadership positions as Vice President of her school's Key Club and as a Youth Sustainability Commissioner for her city of Ypsilanti. A dedicated athlete, Isabella played club and varsity soccer throughout her 4 years, and co-founded the PCEP Pickleball Club with her best friends. In April, she'll be headed to Atlanta to represent Plymouth DECA at the International Career Development Conference as a Michigan State Champion. In her free time, she loves to read, spend time with friends, and practice her graphic design skills!

Kellen Gandee

Bedford High School
Chris Rossi Scholarship
2026/2027
Kellen Gandee will be attending the University of Michigan College of Engineering in the fall of 2026, with plans to major in Materials Science and Engineering. Kellen is graduating at the top of his class at Bedford Senior High School after maintaining a perfect GPA, taking all 10 AP courses offered at the school, and achieving an SAT superscore of 1550.

His biggest commitment outside of school is his leadership on Bedford’s FIRST Robotics Competition team, through which he spends hundreds of hours every year designing mechanical subsystems and coordinating strategic plans for events. Being an integral part of the team’s collective efforts, Kellen has aided them in winning a district event, being awarded the Industrial Design Award at the State Championship, and becoming divisional finalists at the World Championship in Houston.

He has also served as Class President and Executive Secretary of Bedford High School’s Student Council, Secretary of his community’s Youth Advisory Council, and a member of Youth Leadership Toledo. In his spare time, Kellen finds enjoyment in producing electronic music, exploring 3D modeling and printing softwares, and studying philosophical worldviews.

As he approaches his first year at the University of Michigan, he intends to join the M-Engin Academy, take part in one of Michigan’s renowned student project teams, pursue undergraduate research, and build a resume to prepare himself for graduate school. Having received this gracious scholarship offering, he hopes to take advantage of Michigan’s vast resources and enriching social environment to become the best version of himself.

Caleb Garrett

Caleb Garrett will attend the University of Michigan College of Engineering in the fall, where he plans to major in Electrical Engineering. During high school, Caleb had a rigorous schedule with 10 AP classes and maintained a GPA of 4.698 weighted / 3.993 unweighted. He is currently the captain of his high school lacrosse team. He has received Academic All State, MHSAA Scholar-Athlete Award Finalist, and OAA Scholar Athlete honors during his lacrosse career. He participated in DECA, qualifying for the State Career Development Conference 3 times. Caleb was a member of NHS, Spanish Honors Society, and Investments Club at Seaholm. He also participated in Make Me a Maple, serving as a orientation leader and mentor for incoming freshmen. Outside of school, Caleb founded his own landscaping business, through which he manages accounts and a crew to provide landscaping, lawn care, and general property maintenance. He is also a youth lacrosse referee and coach. Caleb has received the Mitch Fischer Memorial Scholarship Award, College Board School Recognition Award, National Merit Commended Student, AP Scholar with Distinction Award, Pythagoras Scholar Mathematician Award, and is a Oakland Press Senior Scholar. Caleb is extremely grateful to receive this scholarship and is excited to attend the University of Michigan.

Ava Holman

Ava Holman will attend the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, where she plans to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration degree while pursuing a minor in Engineering. As the Salutatorian of Trenton High School, Ava has maintained a 3.99 unweighted GPA while completing 13 AP courses and 2 dual enrollment classes.

Ava is committed to leadership in her school and community. She is a founding member and Treasurer of her school’s Girl Up chapter, a global initiative focused on gender equality and empowering young women through outreach. Under her leadership, the club has grown into one of the largest organizations at her school, leading to her selection to represent it on Homecoming Court.

In addition, Ava serves as Vice President of Hospitality for her school’s DECA chapter, earning multiple district medals and qualifying for state competition. She is also Captain of the Mock Trial team, leading them to a 5th place finish at states her senior year.

Beyond school, Ava is involved in service. She has organized and contributed to initiatives including painting and delivering handmade cards to children with serious illnesses, supporting local food distribution efforts, and leading donation drives for women in need. Through her work, Ava aims to make a lasting impact on her community.

Lasya Jalari is a senior at Canton High School, and she will be attending the University of Michigan to study business. Currently, she is a participant in her school’s IB Diploma Programme, taking a total of 6 two-year IB courses. While taking multiple IB classes, she is an AP Scholar with Distinction. Additionally, she holds leadership positions in Key Club and Math Olympiad. She has won multiple awards in HOSA, and recently, she was named a National Merit Finalist. She is also on the Varsity Tennis Team. In her free time, Lasya enjoys playing tennis, biking, and spending time with friends and family.

Amogh Mavatoor

I am a senior at Northville High School and will be attending the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, where I plan to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in consulting. Throughout high school, I have challenged myself with a rigorous academic program, earning recognition as an AP Scholar with Distinction, National Merit Commended Scholar, and IB MYP Diploma recipient.

I am the co-founder and co-president of a nonprofit organization called Hope For Dignity, which is dedicated to promoting dignity and access to essential resources, and I have helped build multiple Little Free Libraries across the country. I also serve on the Wayne County Youth Council, where I helped create multiple resolutions focusing on food insecurity and financial literacy. In addition, I hold an executive board position in a service organization called VT SEVA with nearly 600 members and have contributed extensively as a youth board member, earning the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (Gold) twice.

Additionally, I am a four-year varsity tennis player, state champion, all-state athlete, and team captain. I am also the president of the Northville chapter organization that provides tennis instruction to individuals with autism called ACEing Autism, where he has volunteered for four years. Additionally, I am a three-time DECA state champion and three-time international qualifier, and serve as one of the executive board members of my school's DECA chapter.

I have expanded my interests through internships in government, technology, and finance, gaining experience in policymaking, artificial intelligence, and financial analysis. I am also the founder and host of a youth-focused podcast with listeners across multiple states and countries, where I highlight diverse voices and perspectives.

I am incredibly grateful to receive this scholarship and look forward to continuing to combine business, leadership, and service to create meaningful impact. I am excited for the opportunities ahead at the University of Michigan and am committed to growing as both a leader and someone who can make tangible change in the community.

Hayden Schwartzenfeld

Hayden will be attending the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts at the University of Michigan, where he plans to major in either Biology, Health, and Society or Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience, with a minor in Spanish, ultimately aiming to attend medical school. As a senior at Bloomfield Hills High School, Hayden has challenged himself through his academic career, taking a total of 15 AP/IB classes as well as several honors courses, and was recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction and Outstanding High School Senior through the College Board’s National Recognition Program. In school, Hayden proudly serves as a co-Editor in Chief of The Hawkeye, his school’s student-led newspaper, and President of Bloomfield Hills High School’s National Honor Society Chapter, leading over 300 active members. He also leads the Middle School Tutoring Club, which offers weekly tutoring sessions to middle school students, and is a co-president of his high school's Jewish Student Alliance. Hayden has played baseball and sailed throughout high school as well. Outside of school, Hayden is passionate about his community and gives back by volunteering with organizations like Friendship Circle, where he has spent hundreds of hours working with children and teens with various disabilities throughout high school. In addition, he has spent many hours volunteering at medical offices to gain experience and knowledge in healthcare. In his free time, Hayden enjoys traveling, being on the lake, volunteering, and spending time with his family and friends.

Daniel Shen

I am currently a senior at Northville High School. I will be attending the Ross School of Business to pursue a Bachelor’s of Business Administration with a focus on consulting. Outside of school, I enjoy tutoring students on the SAT through my business ShenPrep and creating YouTube videos.

 

Regarding athletics, I am an All-Conference and All-District soccer player. This past summer, I co-organized our high school’s inaugural youth soccer camp fundraiser.

 

In terms of awards, I am proud to be a YouTube Partner, a National Merit Finalist, the 2024 Michigan Young Referee of the Year, and a Business Professionals of America state champion in the Personal Finance event.

 

I am extremely grateful for this scholarship, and I hope to use it well at the amazing University of Michigan.

Asia Shi

Huron High School

2026/2027
Asia Shi will attend the University of Michigan College of Engineering this fall. She has taken a rigorous courseload at Huron High School & in dual enrollment, including Calculus 3, General Chemistry, IB Physics, AP Calculus BC, AP Biology, AP US History, and more, while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. She is a National Merit Finalist, AP Scholar with Distinction, and has received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award thrice. Asia plays clarinet and bass clarinet, having performed on tour in Spain and in New York's Carnegie Hall as well as having been selected for All-State HS Band twice. She is a captain and 4-Year Varsity golfer on her school team. Asia is Fundraising Co-Chair at her school's Business Professionals of America chapter, where she has qualified for Nationals each year. She leads many other communities that matter to her, such as Asian Youth Liberty League (ALLY) Michigan, Asian Pacific Exchange(APEX), and Girl Scouts. Asia is honored and grateful to receive this scholarship and to be a part of the University of Michigan Leaders and Best!
 

Daniel Syed

International Academy

Daniel is a senior at the International Academy in Bloomfield Hills and will attend the University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, where he plans to study neuroscience. He has pursued the IB Diploma Programme while maintaining strong academic performance and was recognized as a National Merit Commended Scholar.

He serves as President of the Biology Club and co-founded the Psychology Club. He has conducted independent neuroscience research and served as a volunteer research assistant at Wayne State University and the University of Michigan. He was selected as a Genes in Space finalist and a USA Biology Olympiad semifinalist, and placed 3rd at the Michigan State Brain Bee. As a Science Olympiad competitor, he has earned multiple awards at the regional, invitational, and state levels. He has also competed in economics competitions, including the Econ Challenge and Euro Challenge, where he advanced to the national level.

He has tutored over 150 students through Schoolhouse SAT Tutoring and Students Empowering Students, where he serves as Co-President, and has also worked as a math tutor for K–12 students. He volunteers at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center, assisting with patient transport, and has received the Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award twice for his commitment to service.

 

Outside of school, he enjoys playing sports, working out, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. He is honored to receive this scholarship and looks forward to attending the University of Michigan this fall.

Yueyang Wu

Yueyang Wu will pursue a BBA at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. She has completed rigorous coursework throughout high school, including nine AP courses and six college courses, earning a 4.0 unweighted GPA. She is a National Merit Finalist and U.S. Presidential Scholar candidate. A passionate leader and communicator, Yueyang serves as Chapter Vice President of DECA and President of the Debate Club at Adams. She placed fourth at the 2025 DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC) and has earned multiple top honors in debate. She is committed to serving her community through the National Honor Society and service initiatives, earning the Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award. In her free time, she enjoys painting, trying foods from different cultures, and spending quality time with her family and friends. Yueyang is honored to receive the Frederick C. Matthaei scholarship and looks forward to learning and growing at Ross. 

Evan Wyatt

Evan will attend the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts at the University of Michigan, where he intends to study Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience, ultimately planning to pursue medical school. As a summa cum laude graduate of Dakota High School, he ranked in the top 1% of his class of over 600 students. Evan took a challenging course load, including 12 AP classes and several honors classes, and was recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction. He also earned first place in the regional Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) competition. As a dedicated leader, Evan serves as Vice President of Dakota Key Club, President of Animal Welfare Workers, and is a leading officer in both National Honor Society and National Psychology Honor Society. Through these roles, he has discovered a deep sense of fulfillment and purpose in serving his community throughout high school. One of Evan’s most rewarding experiences was serving as National President of the Social Justice Dialogue Club, where he led meaningful weekly conversations guided by his commitment to equity and inclusivity; Evan is a firm believer that respectful dialogue results in greater understanding and drives positive change in the community. Beyond academics and leadership, Evan has worked as a gymnastics coach since the age of 14, mentoring young athletes year-round. He also serves as a shift lead at the Dodge Park Splash Pad and operates his own independent automotive detailing business. Evan looks forward to his time at the University of Michigan and remains committed to community service initiatives.

Angela Zhang

Angela is a proud part of Troy High School’s Class of 2026. She has a mission to empower children through education, which she accomplishes by leading two student nonprofits: the Association of Technology and Education Foundation and The New Page Project. Angela has also been part of the Troy Public Library’s Teen Advisory Board for years - where she organized events for local kids - and served as the president. Furthermore, Angela has always been drawn to business. She won the DECA International Career Development Conference (a business competition) in 2025. In addition, Angela is an avid artist and athlete. She has been a key part of the Troy Girls Varsity Tennis team for three years. Last year she was the state semifinalist in doubles, and this year she is the team captain. Angela’s future path is to study business at the UM Ross School of Business (her dream school). She will use her learning to create even more change.
