Brien K. Wassman Memorial Scholarship
The Brien K. Wassman Memorial Scholarship extends a $4,500 award each year to an outstanding freshman applicant who enrolls at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor. The Brien K. Wassman Memorial Scholarship does consider economic need, (as determined by the Office of Financial Aid at the University of Michigan). This scholarship is part of the President Endowment.
Brien K. Wassman graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1976. He worked on campus at his alma mater in facilities management for many years. Following, Brien began his own construction and facilities company, O’Brien Construction Services. In 2016, Brien and his wife, Tina, started TNC Events, an event management company.
Brien was a two-time president of the UM Club of Greater Detroit. While an active member of the club, Brien chaired annual and special club events such as the Football Bust, Golf Outing, and The Great Debate. Brien was a champion of maintaining the club’s and university’s great history and traditions, especially the Club’s awarding the M Ring annually to the football seniors.
