Isabella Coughlin
Salem High SchoolJerry & Anne Hanlon Scholarship
2026/2027
Isabella will attend the University of Michigan Ross School of Business to earn a degree in Business Administration. Throughout high school she took a total of 10 AP and 3 honors classes, maintaining straight As and earning the title of AP Scholar with Distinction.
Coming from a school-of-choice background, Isabella is an advocate for financial literacy and equitable opportunities for all. She collaborated with Eastern Michigan University's Bright Futures program, creating a financial literacy and entrepreneurship curriculum for children living in economically challenged school districts, impacting more than 20 students. Passionate about using business to make an impact, she founded Grow Different, a social impact marketing agency that helps nonprofits and mission-driven businesses spread their messages and grow sustainably. She interned at Macro Connect, a values-focused MSP, where she developed marketing material that highlighted their social mission and communicated value to under-resourced clients. She also frequently donated her time to Nu2U Again, a nonprofit thrift store providing employment opportunities to individuals with disabilities.
In addition, Isabella held leadership positions as Vice President of her school's Key Club and as a Youth Sustainability Commissioner for her city of Ypsilanti. A dedicated athlete, Isabella played club and varsity soccer throughout her 4 years, and co-founded the PCEP Pickleball Club with her best friends. In April, she'll be headed to Atlanta to represent Plymouth DECA at the International Career Development Conference as a Michigan State Champion. In her free time, she loves to read, spend time with friends, and practice her graphic design skills!
Isabella is incredibly honored and grateful to receive this scholarship and is excited to use it to continue making a meaningful impact through business ventures. Go Blue!
